Hey there!

This is our About Us page and here you will find information about the Jurassic Antz team which includes Hyugo, Jack, Jayden and Joseph. We are a dedicated group of kids that have created this website to share our love and knowledge about ants.

Hyugo

Hi there, my name is Hyugo and I’m the founder of the JurassicAntz. Without my friends and teacher, this website wouldn't have happened. How this all started was a boy who had a nerdy obsession with ants and his passion sparked interest with a small group of friends. We formed the Jurassic Antz and spent months researching different types of ants in Australia. We wanted to share with people all the wonderful attributes of ants so we decided to make a website. The name the Jurassic Antz came from Ants first appeared in the world during the Jurassic period of time.

Joseph

Hello, my name is Joseph. On behalf of Jurassic Antz, I'm excited to introduce our website. It has been many months since we started this project. We worked as a team along with our teacher who motivated us along this journey. I have been into keeping ants for close to a year. The main reason I got into ants was that I found that ants are very unique creatures, such as how they communicate with each other. Another member Hyugo inspired me to become an ant keeper. He was responsible for my first queen ant. One of Jurassic Antz largest sources of inspiration is Ants Australia. Something that makes me an ant enthusiast is that I keep a queen, I enjoy researching and building my knowledge about Ants (particularly in Australia). One of my most cherished ants is the meat ant queen that I've had for a while. I was thrilled when I found out that she had laid several eggs and counting.

Jayden

Hello, my name is Jayden and I’ve been learning about ants for about six months now and the person that inspired my love of these magnificent creatures was my friend Hyugo, a member of the Jurassic Antz. He has been teaching me about ants and helping me research them. I find ants are quite interesting because they are social and reliant on each other, they can take down massive animals together and for someone who’s learning about ants when they see these little critters scavenging for food and supplies it may look chaotic however, they are well organized. What makes me an ant enthusiast is that I watch ant videos and documentaries about them, I research about types of ants and their features and I’m considering taking care of an ant colony.

Jack

Hi, my name's Jack! I'm part of the Jurassic Antz team but you probably already know that. I’ve been into ants for about three months and as of the time of me writing this, I don’t have an ant colony. Instead, I go into my backyard with a magnifying glass and look at ants. What I find fascinating about ants is how they work together and how they can communicate without having the ability to see well. A fact that I love is that they can lift twenty times their own body weight.

Special mention to Mr Dragan

A special thanks to our classroom teacher Mr Dragan for helping us build the website. The idea of a website began when Mr Dragan noticed Hyugo and Joseph doodling ants and creating logos for a website. Mr Dragan was impressed by our designs and asked us if we wanted to build a website. He encouraged us to work together to research, expand our knowledge about ants and change people's perceptions that ants are not pests but intelligent and unique creatures. Without his support, it would have been difficult for us to make this project a reality.
